CORFU BENITSES RESORT
The picturesque village of Benitses is situated 12 miles south of the town of Kerkyra almost in the middle
of corfu island.
Due to its mild climate the beautiful scenery and its historical and cultural wealth, the village of Benitses
has attracted the interest of the visitors of the island since the beginning of the century, although it was known
even earlier according to the reports of notable travellers.

Remnants of the "Kaiser Bridge" built for the easy access to the Palace of Achilleion of
Kaiser Wilhelm the 2nd, as well as the old Aqueduct (built by the british High Commissioner
Adams for the water suply of the town of Kerkyra), are still to be found quite near to Benitses.
The ruins of Roman thermal baths (recently excavated), a great number of churches with sugnificant
architectural wealth, combined with the traditional buildings, the picturesque paved alleys, the
reach green olive groves, are offered for laisure strollings.
The activities of the inhabitants of Benitses are divided between fishing, argiculture and tourism.
Tourism has developed greatly in the last years, with the renovation of traditional duildings
while considerable capital was invested for the creation of new Hotel Units and Lodgings as
well as new roads and an appropriate harbour, so that the village of Benitses is now ready to
meet the new century
The privileged position os Benitses allows the visitor to explore not only the town of Kerkyra
, but also a number of other worth seeing sites of the island.
