Travellers Reviews on Spiti Prifti Apartments in Gouvia, Corfu

Re: A special place in Corfu / Greece!

It’s hard to put your finger on what makes Spiti Prifti so special. It could be the lovely gardens with their pots of fiery geraniums spilling out or it may be the large pool and its bar set in lawns shaded by an ancient olive tree, it might be the excellent apartments with their spacious bathrooms and well equipped kitchens. It’s possible the best thing about Spiti Prifti might be the Taverna with it’s home cooked food served with style and a smile (try the grilled vegetables, simple but delicious!). However the thing that makes Spiti Prifti the place where my family wants to go back to is the welcome. Eleni Prifti makes you feel as though you are her most valued guests even if it is your first visit and you feel chilled out from the moment you arrive .Eleni’s friendly staff, in the restaurant, in the pool bar and the room maids look after you wonderfully. Eleni is the perfect hostess, she knows the bus routes and times, will call you a taxi, arrange a hire car and recommend another taverna should you feel you ought to try somewhere else – although you will be back! Spiti Prifti is special, but please do not take my word for it, go and see for yourself and find out what makes it the best ..

We have just returned from this family owned and run Apartment/Hotel where my brother held his wedding reception. The Prifti family go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and memorable. Eleni, the daughter and driving force, has a phenomenal ability to remember everyones name and makes you feel like a special guest. We reckon that the restaurant is one of the best in Gouvia with Babis and Victor, the staff there, having the same philosophy of making you feel so special. The grounds are really well kept by the hard working Albanian gardener and the pool area and bar are clean and welcoming. The only negative is that on the other side of the gardens is the main road and sometimes you are aware of the road noise. The plusses way outweigh the minuses though. Also, whilst we were there, the mosquitoes were very active in the evening. This, we felt, was an issue all over the island when we went and the restaurant uses very good anti mosquito smoke things that really work and are unobtrusive.
Spiti Prifti Apartments are cleaned daily, apart from Sunday, and are very well appointed, with fridge, cooker, microwave, coffee filter machine and kettle. They are also large. We paid only 65 euros per night (£44.50 or $88) and our apartment would have slept 4+

Re: Excellent Accommodation. We will definitely return in the future !!!

Myself, my partner and another couple (all in our late 20's) just spent a week in Gouvia / Corfu . Spiti Prifti Hotel Apartments was recommended to me by a customer in the shop where I work, of all places. The accommodation is excellent. I have stayed in many apartments/studios/hotel rooms all over Greece and this apartment was by far the best. It was immaculately clean, spacious, well equipped (kettle, fridge, cooker, oven, microwave, utensils etc). We had two good sized bedrooms and a huge balcony. Our apartment was double glazed with Free Air Con (in July anyway!). The pool area is beautiful, again very clean, with small palm trees and grassy area with free beds/umbrellas. Only thing I would say is the pool is quite deep so would be unsuitable for small, unsupervised children. But for adults, we had a great time and it never seemed crowded. The staff are what really made the holiday special. Eleni is absolutely lovely, cant do enough to help, simple as that. The staff really do want to make your holiday a great one, we had a wonderful time with Babis and Demitris who work in the hotel restaurant. The restaurant and bar are both very nice and very reasonable price-wise. The resort of Gouvia is reasonably small, it was perfect for us as it had lots of restaurants and shops, a few bars and a couple of clubs. We had amazing food in most of the restaurants, can’t remember any names but we were all impressed overall and the local wine was lovely. We never went to Gouvia beach as I think it is quite small and pebbly. We found the best beaches on the West Coast (Glyfada / Agios Georgeos area) and Corfu Town is great for shopping. It has many windy streets with tourist shops and the main square has lots of restaurants/coffee shops. There is a bus there from outside Spiti Prifti Apartments. Overall, Gouvia would be great for couples and families who want to escape the 'English' resorts and are looking for somewhere quiet(ish) but with plenty of restaurants/shops etc. Spiti Prifti was wonderful, beautiful pool and surroundings, clean, well equipped apartments and great location (200m to Gouvia resort and the beach). We will definitely return in the future.
