Nissaki Beach Guest Review | "Beautiful location in Corfu"

As it was our honeymoon, my wife and I wanted somewhere we could rest after a hectic period getting ready for our wedding and the wedding itself. Overall, we were fairly satisfied. The bus trip from the airport takes about an hour, as the roads are narrow and very windy: not for the faint-heatered!! We were staying on an all-inclusive basis, as we wanted to completely chill out without worries of cooking. We arrived from Edinburgh about 1.30 am and check-in was efficient, although they did forget to give us our all-inclusive wristbands required for meal times.

The food for breakfast, lunch and dinner was plentiful and plenty of choice but does become tiring after a while. As a result, we chose to eat out on 3 occasions: Agni (30 mins walk), Corfu Town (bus ride) and Ipsos (taxi 20 Euros). The best food of the 3 was a place called Moby Dicks in Ipsos, which was the cheapest but the quality of the food was excellent. I had a sirloin (9.50 euros), compared with 19 euros paid in Corfu Town for a steak which was over-cooked and therefore tasted like an old belt!!

The views from the Nissaki Beach hotel are beautiful, especailly at night. It's also a perfect location for viewing the massive cruise ships go in and out of Corfu. The clientele are 95% German and not overly friendly but then again they could say the same about us as we tended to stick to our own company. There is an entertainment company called Animation who try and involve everyone in sports during the day. They're very friendly but very persistent. 'You want to play beach volleyball?
You want to play darts....? This goes on constantly, which gets very irritating after about 1 day!! One of the team continually makes the most annoying whooping noise all day long, like the noise crowds used to make at raves about 10 years ago!!

The entertainmnt at night is truly laughable. As the hotel is very isolated, my wife and I tried it a few nights to see if it improved any!! Imagine the channel 4 programme of a a few years ago called Eurotrash, minus the porn element!! It was cringeworthy stuff but the Germans seem to enjoy it!! Maybe the Irish and Scottish have a different humour gene!! Worth viewing the once though for the craic!! Found a decent Irish bar in Ipsos called Dirty Nellies but drinks very expensive and taxi round trip cost us 40 Euros, altough the taxi-man Chris was a good laugh and was able to recommend the restaurant Moby Dicks.

Nissaki Beach hotel itself is very clean and the staff are very efficient and good at their jobs. The hotel itself was probably built quite a long time ago and could do with a bit of a re-fit/re-paint in the not too distant future. The pool area is lovely and the sea was very clean (could see loads of fish as you swim) and lovely and warm, although the beach is shingle and entry into the sea can be quite slippy and dangerous if you're not careful. Watersports available and boat-hire which seemed to be popular. Overall, we had a fantastic time as it was perfect for what we wanted i.e plenty of rest and a relaxing time but don't go
if you want top quality entertainment or pubs and clubs!! Date of stay: September 2010. Travelled with: With Spouse/Partner
