Re: would recommend Costas Golden Beach to any-one wanting a quiet and relaxing holiday

We had a fantastic time at the hotel costas golden beach . after arriving late (11.45pm ) we were pleasantly suprised to be greeted by dimitri at the doorstep with a warm welcome , and speros who immediatly grabbed the suitcases and took us to our room and showed us around. We were then given a free snack and drink at the bar chatted with george a while. hotel is immaculately clean , staff are very friendly and make you feel like part of the family from day 1, nothing is too much trouble for them. i would recommend this hotel to any-one wanting a quiet and relaxing holiday , as the resort is not geared up for the younger generation ( god that makes me sound old!! i,m only 41 ! ) but definatly a place to just wind down and watch the locals go about thier daily business. food was excellent, a good variety was offered every meal time , and we met a lot of nice people in the hotel ...hi chris and sandra if you are reading this!! . go for it , but remember to slow yourself down for a week or 2 , there is definately no rushing around, and the surrounding area is great for walkers , the views from the hills are stunning we,ll be back, definatly, and to be honest i cant wait.

Both my husband and I are used to staying in fairly large resorts so we booked the Costas Beach Hotel with a view to trying something different. We weren't disappointed. The hotel, staff, food and location were all superb. Saint Georges beach only a few steps away was wonderfully clean and the waters beautifully clear and very inviting. Agios Georgios is very quiet and relaxing - if you want a hectic night life then this is not for you. We hired a car for the day organised by our Thomson Rep Craig who was very helpful and visited Kassiopi which I would definitely recommend. We found a lovely secluded cove and spent the late morning snorkellng and then walked down into the quaint town for a lovely lunch. Corfu old town is also a definite must for a visit - we did our own thing and only used the Thomson coach to get into Corfu (about an hour from Agios Georgios) and then spent the rest of the time there ambling round the shops and enjoying a lovely evening meal. The atmosphere is great (we went on a Thursday evening (late night shopping) and got the Thomson bus back at 10.00 pm. We chose to eat our lunches and evening meals at Costas Golden Beach Hotel - the view from the Resaurant was fantastic and very relaxing and we did not see much point in going elsewhere - the food was so good and varied and you knew that everything was always going to be so clean and well presented.

Re: An introduction to Hotel Costas Golden Beach

It's easy to see why the Costas Golden Beach was named so. Overlooking a sugar-like sweep of sands, it's the perfect place to unpack and unwind. Delightfully pretty, you really bag the best of both worlds at this low-rise pink-washed hotel. On the one hand, it's a serene escape that goes all out to relax you with cushiony-green scenery and the beach on your doorstep. But on the other hand it's just a short stroll to the nearby shops, bars and tavernas. And the laid-back resort of Aghios Georgios (North Corfu) is only a five minute walk away, too. Once you've checked into the Costas though, we bet you won't want to go far. As friendly as they come, this family-run retreat has stacked up a load of Gold medals for its warmth and hospitality.
It's no wonder people return here year after year. Start as you mean to go on and head for the large rectangular pool. Flanked by an extensive terrace with blue sunbeds, a decked area with a whirlpool bath and lush green gardens - you'll be relaxed in nano seconds here. The piece de resistance here though is the jaw-dropping views over the Tiffany-blue seas. And, of course, the fact that you can flit between agios Georgios beach and Costas Golden Beach pool 'til your heart's content. When you fancy indulging in something a little more active, there's a good selection of activities on offer here. Join in a friendly football match. Practice your forehand on the tennis court. Or dive into some of the watersports down on the shores. However you work up an appetite, grab a bite to eat by the pool and sip freezer-cold drinks. After dark, settle down to the evening entertainment which could be anything from quizzes to karaoke to a disco. Then head back to your restful room for some sweet shut-eye. This is most definitely the life

We stayed at Costas Golden Beach in September 2007, this was our first time to this resort and we really enjoyed our stay here ! From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were made to feel part of the family, our cases were carried to our sea view room for us and the welcome we recieved was fantastic. If you are looking for night life and a busy resort this place is not for you, but, if you
want to relax in beautiful surroundings, by the sea, in peace and tranquility then this IS the place for you.
The rooms in Costas Golden Beach hotel are clean and comfortable, the mosquito screen on the door a god send (every hotel should have them), the food was varied and a good selection no matter what your taste, the staff so helpfull and pleasant, by the end of our stay we new all of them by name ! Drinking water both hot and cold provided at the fountain next to the bar was a great idea it saved time and money not having to buy bottled water. Entertainment at night varied from entertainers coming in such as the greek dancers to a spot of bingo and karioke no one is pressed into anything they don't want to do but we all felt like one big family there so you didn't mind joining in. The pool area has plenty of sun beds there is also a jaccusi and a tennis court, all set by the sea, so if you don't want sand between your toes you can still watch whats going on from the pool. The only down side to coming to this resort is the journey to and from the hotel, its very tedious and you have to change coaches half way there and back as the larger coaches cannot negotiate the narrow winding roads, Tip - if you suffer from travel sickness be sure to take something before both journeys you do need it ! It would be better if Thomson provided a mini bus direct to and from the airport to save the hassle of change over of transport. Having said that it did not spoil the holiday as this place is heaven ! The night we left at 10pm the entire staff of the hotel came out to hug and kiss us goodbye and I must say there were a few tears, this is one place I have been to that I did not want to leave, we shall definately be returning soon to see our friends at Costas Golden Beach hotel and Corfu.
