KONTOKALI - CORFU GREECE

Kontokali is a relatively quiet residential village with a decent selection of shops, tavernas and bars, on the east coast of Corfu, just 4 miles north-west of the fascinating Venetian capital, Corfu Town and the airport. Kontokali beach and resort runs along a narrow road to the side of the main road in a flat coastal area close to Gouvia.  Kontokali is not much of a village though there are old buildings, a fine local church and the remains of a castle. Holidays in Kontokali can easily enjoy the attractions of the capital, Corfu Town, other nearby popular resorts, and the shallow waters of neighbouring Gouvia bay. Kontokali might also appeal to families not requiring too much in the way of entertainment.
Kontokali
Nightlife entertainment options are modest and relaxed but can be greatly expanded by walking to nearby Gouvia, which offers a little of everything. Gouvia has plenty of cosmopolitan life, some excellent restaurants, and lively nightlife.

Kontokali
Kontokali is popular with couples and boat owners, the latter attracted by the marina, which along with  Kontokali beach is the focal point of the resort. Kontokali beach is very clean; a mix of sand and fine shingle with shallow safe water gently sloping to the blue Ionian Sea. The beach has been awarded an EU blue flag. There is a smaller beach alongside, which is popular with locals. Even better beaches can be found at Gouvia.
There is a swimming pool and the large marina with cafés and tavernas popular with both locals and visitors. Kontokali enjoys the proximity of the popular and busier resorts of Gouvia and Dassia or the full on youth party resort of Ipsos.
Other popular Kontokali excursions are the Aqualand waterpark, the old Venetian shipyard at Gouvia, Achilleon Palace and picturesque Paleokastritsa. Holidays in Kontokali could include boat trips along the beautiful coast to visit caves and beaches, or further afield to the enchanting, unspoilt and characterful islands of Paxos and Atipaxos to the south of Corfu. The fascinating Venetian capital of Corfu Town, with its picturesque streets, shops and Corfu café life, is just 15 minutes away by bus.
