Travellers Advice on Nafsica Hotel | Corfu
Nafsica hotel is situated on the road towards the new harbour at Agios Stefanos (Avliotes) Corfu. The Hotel is a haven for holidaymakers who just keep returning year after year. Nafsika hotel enjoys a fabulous position across the road from the spectacular Agios Stefanos beach, with a sea view on one side and stunning green hills on the other. Your first impression is of a beautiful mile-long sandy beach that is set against the soft olive green of the hillsides. As this is a real family-run hotel, the owners have been receiving guests since 1978. The Nafsika hotel has a wonderful convivial atmosphere and prides itself on the traditional greek dishes. In fact, most evenings can become pretty lively when residents and locals join in the fun of Greek music and dancing

Re: Nafsika still the best !!

I have stayed at the Nafsika hotel several times over the years but havent been back to San Stefanos (Avliotes) Corfu since 1991. However, my parents still visit every other year and absolutely love both the resort and the Nafsika. I couldnt stay at the Nafsika this time as Spiros was fully booked, but did go there 3-4 times during our stay for our evening meal. My husband is a chef and a very difficult man to please when eating out, yet upon eating at Hotel Nafsika on our first night, he was really impressed with the standard of the food. We didnt eat anywhere else in San Stefanos that matched the superior cooking at the Nafsika to be honest and had a couple of really naff meals at Olympia and Ozzy Oil......... We kept going back to the Nafsika because the food is really that good - yes Theodora is away at the moment, but her receipes are still being used to fabulous effect. The sea bream was a particular favorite of my husbands, so would greatly recommend that! The prices are extremely reasonable and cheaper than several other less good restaurants. Firmly recommend you trying the Nafsika hotel if you are visiting Agios Stefanos as the food is brilliant ...

Just returned from a week in Corfu staying at the Hotel Nafsica in San Stefanos. Can't praise the hotel owner Spiros and his team enough for the excellant service they provided during our stay. The home cooked food was wonderful with plenty of choice. Nafsica hotel is in a fabulous location just seconds from the beach. Our room had a sea view and was spacious and comfortable.
The hotel and grounds were well maintained and very clean. Agios Stefanos is relatively small but has a good selection of tavernas, bars, restaurants to choose from. We tried a couple of the beach side tavernas for lunch (Waves and Mistral) and they were very good. We only went on one excursion whilst on holiday and it was the Simply Corfu day trip organised by Thomson. This was well worth the money as we went to some lovely areas in the north of Corfu that we would probably never have seen. The views from Bella Vista were breathtaking. The guide was very entertaining and informative. I will definately be returning to this hotel in the future.

Hello: I came from Canada to attend art instructions and stayed at the Nafsika Hotel. Jan Blanch, an artist from England heads to the Nafsika in May and again in September where she offers watercolour courses. The hotel of choice is the Nafsika for all her students. My room overlooked the beach. It was such a beautiful view. The room was immaculate and was cleaned daily; along with a supply of fresh towels. Nafsica hotel is situated in a quiet area but if you're the type who wants to party then it's just a short walk down the road. I can assure you the noise in the area of the hotel will not keep you awake at night like some of the larger hotels.
Nafsica is safe for a single female to walk alone, which I thought was amazing. I've travelled throughout other parts of the world and that was a first for me. Honestly, I have never felt more at home in a hotel! ALL the staff are so friendly and courteous.
They actually stop and chat and they were always smiling and happy, which I sensed is a reflection of their work environment and hotel management. Speros, Nafsica hotel owner introduced himself immediately upon my arrival. I found this to be such a welcoming gesture.....I don't know of any hotel managers taking the time to say hello when their guests arrive. Speros mother does all the cooking and her dishes were delicious. Each evening there was a different variety of choices on the menu. Everything was hot when it came to the table and the helpings were so big that rarely did I finish eating what was on my plate. I never felt rushed to get through dinner. There is an outdoor bar off to the side of the hotel beside the pool, where the staff were equally friendly. The pool was crystal clean, and if you wanted to go to the beach, it was just across the road! Agios Stefanos beach is all sand and you can walk out quite far, so it's excellent for children. The beach was also kept clean...no seaweed! can honestly say if more Canadians knew about this gem on the island of Corfu Greece, they'd be travelling to this destination, not only for it's beauty but also for the excellent service and modest price. It's by far the best holiday experience I've had in many years. Nola

Third year for my wife and I to holiday at the Nafsica hotel in Corfu and once again a fantastic experience. The food is to die for
and is all genuinely home-cooked. Yes the hotel is in need of a makeover but I for one hope it never gets one. It's like a time capsule of good old fashioned cleanliness and hospitality. It's the friendliest of staff and, once you get used to his quirky, seemingly aloof manner, even the owner Spiro turns out to have a warm nature and keen sense of humour. I've noticed one or two posts about the fact that Spiro makes more of a fuss over visiting diners than residents. Of course he does. So would anybody running a business. If you spend all your time chatting to your residents during dinner, then you will lose a lot of passing trade and no businessman can afford to do that. That doesn't mean to say however that residents get poor treatment. We have found him to be a polite, friendly and professional and that applies to all his staff as well. The best recommendation I can give is this. In the past, we have never gone to a hotel more than two years running. Next August, we will be staying at the Nafsica for the fourth consecutive year.

Re: we will recommend Hotel Nafsica !

We stayed at Nafsica hotel after reading several, mainly excellent, reports about it. We were not disappointed! We were met by Spiros the owner, and our luggage was immediately taken to our room. From then on he remembered our Christian names and used them for the whole fortnight. We soon felt as though we were friends and not just guests. On occasion he appeared to be a 'moody' Greek but pre-occupied was a fairer description I think. He was always pleasant and sociable with us. Where else have you been where the owner of the hotel bought you a drink, and on more than one occasion too! The rest of the staff were equally as friendly and obliging, nothing was too much trouble for them. The half board option worked very well. There was always a choice of 3 starters, 3 main courses plus salad and dessert and if there wasn't enough choice on that menu, for a few euros more you could order anything off the a la carte menu. We never felt the need to do that. Theodora's cooking was traditionally Greek but every meal was delicious. Most days we returned at lunchtime and had our lunch there as well.
Nafsica hotel had a rustic charm to it! The bedrooms were quite basic but comfortable. The bathroom was fine but the shower had a mind of it's own! Sometimes it would vary from cold to scaldingly hot within seconds. No thermostatic valves here! Dangerous for young children. My opinion was that both the bedroom and bathroom could do with a good 'bottoming' and this was at the start of the season too. The pool area was always very clean with plenty of sun beds and shades no matter what time of day you chose to use it. The bar area was very pleasant and comfortable and the prices were very reasonable. Eg a Metaxa brandy or an ouzo and lemonade were priced 2 euros. A litre carafe of very gluggable wine in the dining room was 7 euros. The position of the hotel was excellent, just across a quiet road to the beach and 100 metres to the supermarket. The main drag was a few minutes walk away. You could go to bed at night assured of a good night's sleep, no noise with the patio doors shut or just the noise of the sea with them open. Beware of the mozzies! On one night, several of us ladies with bare legs got quite a few bites. Insect repellent a must! San Stefanos is a lovely, quiet resort with some wonderful walks and stunning scenery. Would we go back? You bet! Would we recommend Hotel Nafsica in Corfu? Definitely, if you want somewhere that is still traditionally Greek with a charm of it's own
