Re: Great Vacation!

Stayed at the Marbella Corfu in mid Sept for a week and had a great time. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. As we were on a half board basis we were dreading the self service canteen approach that you have to endure but we were pleasantly surprised. The food was varied and actually very good. The "beach" area is nice but is too small for the hotel. It's not a beach as such, more a sandy area with a wooden walkway around the edge where you get into the sea but tastefully done with a good snack bar and facilities. Be aware though that the coastline along this side of Corfu is pebbles (not sand), however access to the sea from this private beach area is down steps straight into the sea so not a problem. Marbella hotel swimming pool is not heated and as you can imagine it is flaming well freezing as you get in but actually pretty good once your heart restarts and you move around. Evening entertainment was pretty good so whether you were getting slopped-up at the cocktail bar or at the outdoor theatre there was music, dancing or a show of some sort for entertainment every night. Hotel Marbella was very clean and maid service was daily. The biggest problem both my wife and I found was that the beds were very hard. It is like sleeping on the floor. However, after a night at the cocktail bar who cares ! It is a holiday after all. Our room was just a standard double with a garden view but we had a garden view, we could see the sea and we had 2 double beds and lots of space in the room and balcony. If all you want to do is blob and have a good rest then this place will work. There isn't much else to do within a few kilometres so it's all geared around Marbella hotel complex. Corfu town is well worth a visit and you can get a taxi there or a speedboat from the beach area at reasonable prices.

Re: Restful Holiday in Corfu !

Stayed in Marbella hotel half board for a week. Family room, 2 adults one teenager. Was a bit put off by previous reviews, but had already booked before we had found trip advisor site. Beds were indeed hard, except for our daughter's, which was an additional bed. Food was fine, buffet style with plenty of choice and eat all you wanted. - Actually it was sickening to see some people at tables load up extra plates of food for their table, and then leave most of it. It was not worth venturing on to the balcony or outside areas to eat, as had previously been reported, as wasps enevitably became an annoyance.
Marbella Corfu hotel does go to efforts to minimise this, but geographically a problem rather than isolated to poor efforts by this hotel ,according to other holiday makers. The room and hotel generally was very clean, and staff were friendly and attentive. The pool was great and was never packed,- no need for towel laying rituals on sun beds at either the pool or private beach area. Both pool and beach bar restaurants were good- especially their club sandwiches! We didnt venture far from the hotel as we were more on a chillout break, but enjoyed an aquapark excursion. Liked — tranquil surroundings, hotel did not feel packed despite size
