Summer is upon us well and truly, but there are many of us who are yet to book a holiday this year., Part of the reason for this is the fact that the weather is so poor on our shores here that it is hard to get in the holiday spirit! It is also the case though that a lot of people prefer to leave their summer holidays to the end of the summer months, and take advantage of the warm late summer months you often find in some of the warmer resorts in Europe.

One place in particular that often has people flocking in September and even in October is Greece, and in particular the Greek islands. You will find that a lot of people love to travel out to Greece at this time of year, because the temperature levels remain high right up until the end of October, and the sunshine record is also superb. People sometimes find the heat hard to deal with right in the peak summer months, but if you head out towards the end of August or in September or October you normally find a nice cooling breeze accompanying the 80-90 degree heat!

Greece of course is a superb destination the whole year round, with some of the Greek islands only experiencing rain fall for around thirty days of the year! People say that you can't guarantee good weather when you go on holiday but in Greece you can come pretty close! Greece is such a good destination for holidays because all of the islands offer something a little bit different. If you want fun in the sun you can head to either Rhodes or Kos, safe in the knowledge that you are going to find night life aplenty right to the end of the season, but fear not, because both of these islands also have their fair share of beauty spots that you won't forget in a hurry. Rhodes is an island just waiting for you to discover its more remote parts.

If you know where to go, you can sit on the beach in the evening and watch the sun set over turkey in the distance, whilst you watch the Aegean and Mediterranean seas meet! The island of Kefalonia, made famous by the Book and film Captain Correlli's Mandolin is also a beautiful island to visit, and is somewhat more verdant. Thanks to its more northerly position, you will find a slightly higher chance of rainfall at the very end of the season, but you should be fairly safe throughout September and in to early October too. Another delightful island to visit is Mykonos.

This has in the past had a bit of a reputation of being a hedonistic party island, but this isn't so true any more, despite the fact that it can still be quite lively at night time. The island is epitomised by its proliferation of beautiful sugar cube cottages, and it is the best example of classic Greek architecture you will find on any of the Greek islands.
