The architecture of the Corfiot villages is unique. Influenced by many nationalities such as the Bizantines, French, English, and Venetians among others, it embidies the affluence and the grandeur of the island.
The beauty of the Corfian hand carved marble door and window surrounds, large thick timber doors, marble staircases, stone walls with the colours of the warm out stucco are complimented by the evergreen olive groves, cypress trees and the thousand defferent colours of spring and summer wikd flowers. This unique colour explosion can be marvelled better in spring time in the local villages. Some local villages are: Lefkimmi, Avliotes, Magoulades, Agios Matheos, Chlomos, Agioi Deka, Kinopiastes, Magoulades, Kavadades, Argirades, Afionas etc.

All these Corfiot villages still display the typical Corfiot architecture. There you can also witness the tyypical
Corfiot everyday life which you cannot find in the beach villages. In the winted the beach resorts are empty and most people live in the original more sheltered mountain villages. If you are lucky you can still watch old grannies in their traditional black and white clothes and their white head cover. You may see the locals going about with their heavily laden donkeys. You may find one of the original coffee shops (Kafenio), with their traditional straw chairs and the locals enjoying ouzo and heavily into discussions about he day's politics.
